Sutton
Place Apartments, built in 1964 and located at 500 Osceola Avenue,
originally served Winter Park residents. A growing need to expand the
College’s residential space and increase the percentage of students
living on campus led Rollins to acquire the 82-unit complex in 2001.
Purchased from 389 Associates in New York at a cost of $7.35 million, the
complex has increased the College’s residential space by 25 percent.
After the purchase, Rollins spent additional $2-million to update the
building structure. The renovated property has an outdoor pool, a
lakefront lawn, and overlooks Lake Virginia. The units include Internet
service, full furnishings, a kitchenette with a range top and oven, and a
balcony. Sutton Place provides two-bedroom layouts for four students, or
one-bedroom layouts for two. Upper-level students with a 3.0 GPA began
moving into the facilities in the fall of 2001. |
