Stewart House College Arms

Purchased in 1969, the former private residence had a fireplace, a big living room and kitchen along with a pool and nursery in the backyard. In 1973, the building became the office of Campus Safety Department and provided office space for Rollins Vice President John Tiedtke (‘75H); meanwhile, the remainder of the space was rented as apartments. After Campus Safety moved to the Carnegie Hall, the vacant spaces were used for male transfer students. Then it became Holt House, which was occupied by a group of men and women who created their own curriculum, under supervision; though an interesting arrangement, the program ended shortly due to lack of student support. Once again, the apartments were rented while Mr. Tiedtke’s office remained for some years. Currently, College Arms provides office and residential space for some of college staff.
