Rose Skillman Hall

Built in 1958, Rose Skillman Hall was designed by James Gamble Rogers, II. Skillman Hall had a seating capacity of 520 in its main dining room. The irregular-shaped dining room sat adjacent to two small dining areas. It also had an attractive terrace in front of lake Virginia. The Mediterranean style roof with its spacious and imposing effects was intertwined with new kitchen facilities in the form of stainless steel equipments, walk-in refrigerators, and up-to-date ventilation system. In order to serve the needs of the College and special guests, the architects also added a private dining room. The 17, 044 square-foot building caught fire on September 11, 1991, and it was finally torn down in the late 1990s to building the new Cornell Student Center.
