Alumni House

The Alumni House was built jointly with the Student Center in 1941, at a total cost of approximately $90,000. It was designed by Kiehnel & Elliott and built by Harry C. Cone. The expenses for this building were raised by Rollins students and alumni through the Orange County Student Aid Fund. Frances Knowles Warren (’35H) contributed toward the construction of the 1,979-square-foot building as well. The one-story building contains a main lounge and four offices on the sides of the building. The main lounge has a comfortable living room with a fireplace. Since its dedication, the building has housed the office of the Alumni Association and served as a gathering place for alumni events. A pink-and-white concrete marker was previously situated in front of the Alumni House to identify the building. Among the interior objects of the Alumni House, there is an oil painting of Lucy Cross (1839-1927), leader of the founding of Rollins College. Through its history, the Alumni House has played an important role in preserving Rollins’ heritage, enhancing the College’s reputation, and connecting the campus with the community at large.
